Top 5 Disney Reprises

If there is one thing I love it’s a good Disney song. If there is one thing I love even more, it’s when Disney add in an excellent reprise. After listening  to a variety of my favourites, I decided to narrow it down to my top five Disney Reprises. Firstly, I want to make a few honourable mentions. The Lion King and The Hunchback of Notre Dame both have superb soundtracks and excellent reprises. In my opinion The Hunchback of Notre Dame has some incredibly underrated music and I can’t quite believe I haven’t included it in my top five. However, as both of the reprises from The Lion King and The Hunchback of Notre Dame feature at the end of the film, I have discounted them from my list. Secondly, Frozen’s reprise of For The First Time In Forever is very good. It narrowly missed being in my list because I find it only really gets going after Elsa sings the line “I’m such a fold I can’t be free”. Until that point, I found myself getting annoyed with Anna’s half singing half talking “actually we’re not” “I get the feeling you don’t know” section…but thats just my opinion.

Now for the top 5…

5. Part of Your World – The Little Mermaid

It is one of my favourite Disney songs. The moment where Ariel is singing on the rock and the wave crashes behind her creates that goose bump moment necessary to make a good reprise.

4. Belle (Reprise) – Beauty and The Beast

The Belle reprise is incredibly clever both lyrically and musically. I also love the message of the song. The moment where the music is combined with the beautifully animated view of the French valleys as Belle is running and singing about wanting adventure in the “great wide somewhere” sends chills up my spine. Oh, the feels!

3. Savages (Part 2) – Pocahontas

Pocahontas is one of my favourite Disney films and features a beautiful score. I love how Savages (Part 2) drives the movie towards a climaxing point of drama and tension. Combined with the use of animation and colour creates a superb scene in the movie.

2. Mother Knows Best (Reprise) – Tangled

Mother Knows Best is an excellent Disney song on its own but I love how they used a minor key to create an excellent Villain Reprise. I like how the song highlights the naivety of Rapunzel but also shows the threat of Mother Gothel as Villain. I just wish it was a bit longer!

1. Tangled – When Will My Life Begin

I know this may not be everyone’s favourite but it is mine. The music, the pace, the lyrics, the animation all slot together to create perfect Disney Reprise. It’s a song that represents freedom and the nostalgia of growing up. It’s a feel good song and it gives me goosebumps every time I watch it!

So there you have it, my top 5 Disney Reprises. This post has taken me a lot longer that I had anticipated. It was incredibly difficult narrowing it down to my top 5.

Great list! I didnt even realize there was a savages reprise but it is my favorite song in that movie.
I also like the prince ali reprise in Aladdin because it is sung by Jafar and is his villain song.

Thank you! It technically does count as a reprise, but is called Savavges (Part 2). It’s one of my favourites in Pocahontas too. The Prince Ali one is another great reprise. It was so difficult to narrow it down to just 5, and Prince Ali was in the mix when I was first deciding!

For sure lists are so tough. I know people are going to want me to rank all after my project. Going to be hard because all so good

That will be very difficult! I need to catch up with some of your reviews. I’ve had a very busy couple of weeks (moving back to University) so I am looking forward to reading what you’ve written 🙂
